For decades, the most common way to discover the amazing energy of Member training events was through a personal invitation from an Independent Herbalife Member. Using word of mouth and a “Lose Weight Now, Ask Me How®” button, these face-to-face interactions helped promote and popularize our events all over the world.
Now social media is revolutionizing how we connect, and people like Executive President’s Team 60K members Jorge Jr. and Disney De La Concepcion are taking advantage of all the new ways to reach out and connect. Along with Executive President’s Team 30K members Alan Rodriguez, Fabiola Barinas, and President’s Team 20K member Paymi Romero, this social media “dream team” is perfecting the art of the post and inspiring thousands to follow them all the way to the training events and meetings.
Followers Into Customers
Developing a strong community of followers is an important part of any social media strategy; however, it’s also important to help those followers become inspired Herbalife customers.
“Posting the amazing benefits of Herbalife products day after day encourages followers to want them in their lives.” – Jorge and Disney
Jorge insists, “Posting the amazing benefits of Herbalife® products day after day encourages followers to want them in their lives.” In addition, posts that promote personal development and a healthy, active lifestyle can likewise help motivate followers to ask about Herbalife. Paymi reveals, “Sharing my journey and talking about how great I feel helps me connect with followers through positivity, motivation and excitement.”
Giving the public a glimpse into the supportive culture of Herbalife is also a great way to encourage people to get involved. Alan and Fabiola explain, “Whenever there’s a Member training, we make sure to share facts about the speakers and highlight the incredible recognition Members receive for their achievements.” They add, “People love being recognized for their work, and we try to show that Herbalife is great at that.”
Stand Out From the Crowd
Now that nearly the whole world is online and connected through social media, standing out from the crowd can seem like a challenge. But as Alan explains, most followers just want to make a positive, personal connection. “We make sure that every post either inspires someone or puts a smile on their face,” says Alan. Thereby, the more you support your followers, the more likely they’ll be there to support your business.

Still, you can’t forget the importance of good presentation. “The most powerful way of promoting an event on social media is showing the magnitude of the event,” says Jorge. “Pictures of big groups send a big message.” But no matter how amazing the event is, your post promoting the event still has to catch a person’s eye. To help make your post stand out, Jorge suggests, “Make sure to share only high-quality pictures with great lighting and sharpness.”
Consistency Is Key
Whether you’re thinking about starting your own social media account or trying to build excitement for an upcoming event, the key to success is consistency. “The best advice I could give anyone starting out on social media is to stay consistent,” insists Jorge. “It takes time to develop the necessary trust required in order for others to contact you.” But developing trust also means always having to be honest and open with your followers, to which Paymi offers this simple piece of advice, “Be yourself!”
Embrace New Connections
Although social media remains one of the best ways to connect with people from around the world, you should always be on the lookout for new ways to strengthen your current connections. “The biggest challenge of social media is not being able to meet everyone face-to-face,” says Jorge.
“But we’ve overcome this obstacle by using mobile apps, group chats and personal text messages to stay connected with all our followers. This also enables us to promote events as meeting places, which encourages others to attend and finally meet the rest of the team.” While nothing can compare to meeting face-to-face, using social media and mobile apps can open up new opportunities to establish an Herbalife community all over the world.
Find Your Social Media Voice
Just because you’re on the same team doesn’t mean you need to share the same post – you have the power to make your own connections! For instance, Jorge and Disney encourage everyone in their team to have an active role in his or her online business. “In our group, anyone who uses social media as one of their business tools is responsible for creating their own content and sharing it as they desire.”
Although everyone on the team is free to be creative about their social media posts, what they share still needs to fit within the Herbalife social media guidelines. Fabiola explains, “We tell everyone to always use the appropriate disclaimers and ensure that their posts are in compliance with the company rules.”
Maintaining integrity in your social media posts not only protects our business, it can also help you attract followers in search of a community they can trust.
Make Meaningful Connections
As a company founded upon a tradition of direct selling, social media is a business tool that can enhance our ability to connect with the public. And although having a large amount of followers is always a point of pride, these Members recognize the value of being able to establish real relationships with the real people behind the online accounts. “Social media allows us to reach people from around the world,” says Jorge.
“We have team members in places we’ve never been and because of the relationships we have built, we know we have friends and a home wherever they are,” add Alan and Fabiola. “It’s simply beautiful.”
